Message from the first place winner, Dianne Walsh
Hi everyone, my name is Dianne Walsh. In November 2007 I joined Gabbie Soyer’s Polifex studio to tone my whole body and to take on a new challenge in my life. I don’t have a dance or gymnastics background but rather someone who has been in the health sector for a number of years and believes in good health.
I was over the moon when I saw that there was a competition in Wellington and decided to enter. I then heard the song I wanted to perform to, So heavy is my heart. It’s about a butterfly and all its fragile journeys during its life span and breaking free. I could relate to this, as I had been in a abusive marriage for twenty nine years, and in the last eight years the many stages of healing I have been through.
Stepping out onto the stage clad in my costume and with my routine I had choreographed was the final stage of my journey of healing for me.
I’m thankful to my two daughters and my eldest granddaughter for all their encouragement in my self-development, and the healing esteem I have gained through Pole Fitness.
My family, friends and the patients I care for are all so proud of me, but most of all I’m proud of myself for taking that wonderful journey.
Naku Dianne
